About Lafayette County Courthouse
Built in 1905-1907 from a bequest of Matt Murphy (Benton), who left 70% of his estate for its construction. It is the only courthouse in current use in the USA built entirely from the funds of a single person. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 (No. 78000114).
