About Milton House Museum
The Milton House Museum is proud to be the last authenticated stop on the Underground Railroad that can still be toured in Wisconsin. We take great pride in sharing the rich and unique history of not only the Milton House, but also the Milton Community. Guided tours of the historic 1844 structure, original tunnel, and 1837 settlers cabin transport guests back to bygone era, to learn about the bravery and courage of those seeking freedom from bondage, and those willing to risk it all to aid them.
The Milton House Museum consists of the original 1844 grout hexagon structure, a recent reconstruction of the block portion of the original structure, original 1837 cabin, and the original tunnel used to assist freedom seekers on the Underground Railroad. The museum is also home to archival material and a vast 3D object collection that further tell the story of the Milton Community. The Milton House Museum is owned and operated by the Milton Historical Society.
The Milton House Museum is a designated National Landmark, and also a National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom site.
