About Montreal Company Mining Town
In 1921, Olgebay-Norton Mining Company designed a community that would provide an environment to "accommodate the nationality and temperament" of the 700 miners and their families needed to work at the new Montreal Mine shaft. White framed houses, curved streets and gracious landscaping mark the now named, City of Montreal - the only planned company mining town in Wisconsin. City of Montreal is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
