About Algoma Historic Murals
In June of 2007, downtown Algoma was the site of the Walldog Wave, an event that literally changed the face of ten historic buildings through the art form of traditional mural painting. Numerous Walldog artists (an International group of mural painters who pledge their time as “keepers of the craft”) converged on Algoma to create & recreate historic representations of mural advertisement reflective of businesses, products, activity & people from throughout Algoma’s history. The Algoma Main Street Program’s Historic Algoma Walking Tour brochure includes locations & a brief history on each mural. They encourage you to explore these fascinating works of art along with the rich historic architecture unique to downtown Algoma.
