About Laura Ingalls Wilder Wayside & Cabin
Through the generosity of the Pepin business community and the landowner, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society was fortunate to be able to acquire three acres of land at the original site of Laura’s birth. It is on this property that a reproduction of the Little House in the Big Woods cabin was built, using detail the Laura Ingalls Wilder remembered in her book, Little House in the Big Woods. Enjoy a self-guided tour. The Wayside Cabin is open all year long, 24/7. The grounds are maintained during the warm seasons, though the driveway is not regularly plowed in the winter. There are picnic tables and limited restroom facilities onsite. No running water or electricity.
