Books on Main

 Books on Main is a lifelong dream coming true.  I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember and reading was always emphasized in my family.  I remember snowy weekend days in northern Wisconsin with the family gathered in the family room each reading a different book.  In high school, I had the opportunity to work at our local Book World branch, which I continued at a different branch when I went to college.  Many a summer has been spent rummaging for books and more than once my husband has lost me in a bookstore. My happy place is being surrounded by so many books, I know I’ll never be able to read them all.When we purchased the building in 2019, I jokingly told my husband, “Look, that vacant space would make a perfect bookstore!”  As the years went by, the idea was always in my head, but I worked full time in Madison and there was no way I could make it work.  Or so I thought…After working from home during the pandemic, I realized that my heart was not with my corporate job, but with our real estate business and I left the corporate world to pursue the building of our business and a new career in mortgage lending (because I’m a budget/numbers nerd as well as a book nerd).  As our businesses grew, and I began to work from whatever location I wanted, my thoughts turned more and more to this vacant space.  In the summer of 2022, I finally told my husband that this was it, I wanted to start a used bookstore.  Wonderful man that he is, he didn’t bat and eye and started planning how we could finish off the space and bring my dream to life.I'm so happy to be a part of the Adams-Friendship community and bring this space to our town.  I hope it is a little escape that brings you joy just as it does me!
