Northwoods Premium Confections - “A Northwoods style candy store in the heart of Beloit”. Celebrating 11 years in downtown Beloit (as of February 2024), Northwoods Premium Confections is a classic 'mom and pop' candy shop with a Northwoods theme. Utilizing three generations of family recipes, owners Teala and Scott Lamoreux handcraft fine chocolates, gourmet popcorn, fresh fudge and handmade candies. They feel that the quality and selection that they offer rivals some of the best candy shops in the most popular tourist destinations.   There are five main categories to their candy shop. The first is their fine chocolates. Teala and Scott  use excellent quality chocolate and old fashioned, scratch recipes for the products in their store. The milk chocolate is a creamy milk chocolate and the dark chocolate is smooth and rich. Some of their most popular options are their sea salt caramels, mint meltaways, pecan snappers, giant peanut butter cups (which are big enough to share with a friend) and their assorted truffles, which are a top seller. Be sure to grab a “Beloit Bar”, which is a classic chocolate bar that is a tasty Beloit souvenir. The second category is their gourmet popcorn. They make their popcorn in store using custom recipes with the finest of ingredients. Their most popular is the Beloit Mix which is caramel popcorn and cheddar popcorn together. The caramel corn is a smooth buttery caramel corn and the cheddar is a bold medium cheddar, which go great together. They also make really good kettle popcorn, buttery popcorn and they offer light salt popcorn which is good for people watching their salt intake. Scott and Teala make lots of specialty popcorn flavors as well (over 100 different varieties), that they run from time to time. They also make fudge in house. The most popular flavors are the chocolate or chocolate walnut. They also make other varieties which can include Maple Pecan, Peanut Butter, Blue Moon, Butter Pecan and others.   The third category is their candy section. They try to feature as many nostalgic candies as possible. Scott says “People get a kick out of seeing the old brands and thinking back to their childhood and simpler times.” They also carry modern candy products. Teala says “The kids these days really like sour candies. We also have a very good salt water taffy section with lots of variety”.   The fourth category of their shop is ice cream. Northwoods carries Chocolate Shoppe brand of ice cream out of Madison, which is a super premium brand. It is rich and thick and it has a butterfat of 14%, so it is considered a high end ice cream. Popular options and best sellers are butter pecan, Zanzibar chocolate, which is a rich fudge brownie chocolate made with 3 different cocoas and Exhausted Parent which is a coffee ice cream with bourbon flavor and bittersweet chocolate chunks.   The fifth category is their bulk candy section. For bulk chocolate items, they feature the same high quality chocolate that they use on their handmade chocolates. Some of the featured items in the bulk candy section are their classic malt balls or mega malts balls, jumbo raisins, espresso beans, double dipped peanuts, chocolate almonds, chocolate pecans and more.   Scott says “We have several local customers that actually shop at Northwoods before they leave town on vacation because the quality, selection and variety is better here than their vacation destination”. Family owned and operated, Northwoods Premium was founded in the Northwoods of Wisconsin in 2007.
