Take a stroll through the Village of Prentice and discover the fascinating history of this Northwoods community. You’ll find historic markers throughout town commemorating important events, learn about the logging industry, railroad history, important citizens, famous Prentice natives, the area’s earliest settlers, historic businesses and buildings, some still in operation and others no longer in existence, which were important to the development of present-day Prentice, including the Prentice Creamery, the site of the United States Leather Company tannery and the Jump River Lumber Company Store. A map shows the location of the 17 outdoor historical markers and plaques located within the village of Prentice.
