By the Season
Fresh Produce All Year Long
Bright days and abundant rainfall grow Wisconsin fruits and veggies of all varieties. Hunt for morels from March ‘til May, or harvest fresh asparagus, spinach and rhubarb later in the spring. Don’t miss out on some late spring strawberry picking, straight from the fields!
From June through August, Wisconsin is as fresh as it gets. Stock up on sweet (and tart) cherries, berries, tomatoes, potatoes and sweet corn all summer long. Your appetite and a little creativity are all you need to get cooking on those new recipes you’ve been meaning to try!
Crisp air and changing temps mean ripe apples, hearty gourds, perfect pumpkins and a whole flood of cranberries (yep, we mean it, those marshes really do overflow with berries!). Fall tastes best when served fresh, so make sure to plan your visit before the leaves start to change colors.
Produce like hardy turnips, leeks and brussels sprouts have their harvest season in the colder months of November and December. Wisconsin’s statewide farmers’ markets move indoors and keep buzzing year-round.
