Join The World’s Largest Trivia Contest in Stevens Point
Which Wisconsin city hosts an epic 3-day trivia contest with more than 300 teams competing? If you answered Stevens Point, you’re correct! Whether you’re a serious competitor or just looking to have fun, this 3-day trivia event is worth checking out!
The Trivia Contest Format
For an amazing 54 hours over one weekend in April, Stevens Point boasts the World’s Largest Trivia Contest, hosted by radio station WWSP 90FM. The contest questions are mostly media themed — think entertainment, music and sports. The station broadcasts eight questions per hour and awards points based on the number of correct answers submitted.
Other opportunities to earn points come during a rally around the city, in the form of “Running Questions” shared at specific locations, and more. The contest continues through the weekend, which means teams are answering at all hours of the day and night.
Though competition is intense (the winning team in 2022 had more than 27,000 points!), the spirit of the event is irreverent — silly team names are common. Getting a group of friends together to compete? Think big because a team can be any size!
Not interested in trivia? No problem!
The trivia events extend beyond the trivia contest itself. A Trivia Kickoff Movie a couple of weeks before the event is held at Roger’s Cinema and is just $3 a person.
Be sure to grab a prime spot for your crew at The Trivia Parade. Describing itself as “the most absurd collection of Trivia Players ever assembled,” it’s an opportunity to cheer on contestants (or size up the competition) and collect candy right before the contest starts. You’re likely to see something unique you can reminisce about later — one couple even chose a parade float as the location for their wedding!
Things to Do Year-Round in Stevens Point
Though the trivia contest is a huge draw in April, Stevens Point has plenty to do year-round. Downtown, The Wooden Chair serves fresh favorites such as omelettes, pancakes, homemade granola, and “other good breakfast stuff,” plus lunch wraps and sandwiches, with vegetarian options. Beer and soda lovers will enjoy a tour of Stevens Point Brewery, which includes a souvenir glass and samples to sip. Afterward, play a game and have a snack on the Point Patio (open seasonally).
You and your group can also explore the Green Circle Trail, a 27-mile loop around the city comprised of connected trails. Sections overlook the Wisconsin and Plover Rivers, offer views of wildlife and waterfowl, and provides access to the Stevens Point Sculpture Park, where you can wander in the woods and discover an ever-changing roster of artwork.
When your crew is ready for a snack, Stevens Point has two local soft-serve ice cream businesses just blocks apart. Belts’ Soft Serve and Carl D’s Soft Serve both serve flurries, cones and sundaes. If you can’t decide which to try, visit both and compare!
For a special celebration meal, Muse is an upscale restaurant choice with a locally-sourced menu that changes seasonally. Hand-rolled pasta is a specialty here, plus you can peek at a real-life Picasso print. Enjoy a show afterward at the Sentry Theater next door, home of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra.
No matter what kind of fun you’re searching for, Stevens Point is sure to have something for everyone in your crew to enjoy. Discover more exciting evens throughout Wisconsin with our directory!
