Join art enthusiasts and collectors and take in the family-friendly activities of the 2015 Door County Plein Air Festival. Known as one of the top three outdoor painting festivals in the United States, see why we are the plein air painter's choice of events. Sponsored by Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek, see 40 renowned painters - from the U.S. and points beyond - race the sun to complete masterworks from start-to-finish before the light changes on a scene. Paintings are available for purchase beginning with ticketed events on Friday, July 24, and to the public on Saturday, July 25. One of the festival highlights is Saturday's Quick Paint competition. At this event, featured artist’s paintings are completed in less than 2 hours and are auctioned off live at noon in the center of Fish Creek. Other artists may register to compete in a public portion of the Quick Paint (the Dockside Paint-Out) to win a spot as a featured artist in the following year’s festival. The Festival artists’ events close with the public Open Door Celebration reception that evening and announcement of Dockside Paint-Out Awards. A selection of the artists’ works remains on display for sale until August 15.
