Oktoberfest at Essen Haus

Madison

The Essen Haus is celebrating its 30th consecutive Oktoberfest. Let the gemutlichkeit roll with bier, pretzels, polka and more. Music kicks off Thursday night with Copper Box from Oshkosh. On Friday the traditional music begins with local polka legend Steve Meisner at 8:30pm. Rain or shine put on your polka shoes with an Essen Haus favorite, the Rowe Brothers Band at noon, and the 32 person polka wind ensemble Dorf Kapelle is set to follow. Steve Meisner will finish off the three daylong celebration. Activities include pie eating contests, beer races, hammerschlagan (the stump game), and face painting, to name a few. There will be only the best Oktoberfest foods, from pig and chicken roast to warm pretzels and sauerkraut. As always, we have 16 German beers on tap, including many Oktober beers, and the parking and cover is free.
