Blue Mound State Park

Details

Perched atop the highest point in southern Wisconsin, the park offers spectacular views along with unique geological features. The only Wisconsin state park with a swimming pool is equipped with a lift for persons with disabilities. Cross-country ski trail in season with warming house available.

If you're looking for some aerobically challenging terrain you'll find it here on the John Minix and Willow Springs trails. Local WORBA (Wisconsin Off-Road Bicycling Association) volunteers working with the park staff have recently added several miles of twisting single-track trail that bring even more elevation challenges to the park's trail mix. The difficulty ratings shown on the map are geared towards novice riders. More experienced single-track riders may feel the trails are less challenging than the color-coding implies. All in all, you'll have 500 feet of elevation to play with if you ride the trails and climb the paved road to the top. Not a mountain, but not bad for the Midwest.
