Norskedalen, a nature and heritage center, is unforgettable in every season. We offer six miles of nature trails; the Helga Gundersen arboretum; and May through October guided tours of the restored Bekkum pioneer log homestead. Nearby, the Thrune Visitors' Center houses heritage and nature museums, a gift shop, library and meeting facilities. The Skumsrud Heritage Farm, features a seasonal open-air museum with twelve different types of Norwegian immigrant log houses including the 1853 Skumsrud Log Cabin, on the national Register of Historic Places, a museum and gift shop. The restored 1890`s log buildings are furnished as if the family just stepped out the door, and the entire place comes to life during our special events on weekends scattered throughout the year. Norskedalen also offers the Paulsen Rental Cabin which is a nature center in itself, as well as a history center.
