Wolf River

Details

The famous Wolf River is located in the eastern part of Langlade County. This stretch of water is considered one of the best whitewater rivers in the Midwest! The Wolf goes from quiet, calm water in the northern section to complex rapids in the southern sections. North of Pearson is "calm", while south of Highway T is a steep gradient with rapids up to 3/4 mile in length. Rafting conditions depend on the water level and time of year. Spring run-off is one of the most challenging obstacles. Area outfitters provide canoe and raft rentals. Access is available at road crossings with possible take-out near Markton and County Road M before entering the Menominee Indian Reservation. NOTE: Regulations on canoeing beyond Markton should be checked locally.
