Known as the “Snow Capital of the World,” Iron County boasts 500 miles of great snowmobile trails as well as 250 miles of ATV and UTV trails. Other outdoor pursuits include canoeing, kayaking, trout fishing, hiking, skiing and mountain biking. Waterfalls dot the county and are popular in the spring to see the rushing waters and in the fall as they're framed by spectacular fall colors. Hurley's rich mining heritage and historic downtown are worth exploring. In southern Iron County, Mercer “The Loon Capital” is a four-season destination and the gateway to the pristine Turtle-Flambeau Flowage and home to the 16 foot high “Claire d Loon.”
