Janesville's 30 miles of trails include the southernmost segment of the statewide Ice Age Trail, and Janesville has received an Ice Age Trail Community designation from the Ice Age Trail Alliance. The trails connect many neighborhoods, parks and attractions including Rotary Botanical Gardens, the Youth Sports Complex, and Downtown Janesville. While most of the trails are paved, there are segments that are not, including a path along the bluff overlooking the Rock River called the Devil's Staircase. In the winter, the trails, parks and greenbelt system are available to cross country skiers and snowshoers.

The trails are connected by one central point, or "hub," and named trails radiate out from this point like spokes on a wheel. This hub is located just north of the old railroad bridge which spans the Rock River, where Riverside Street meets the trail. Trail maps are available. Pets are welcome on the trails from September 16 through May 14.
