6 of Wisconsin’s Most Charming Bed & Breakfasts

Share

When you want to carve out some quality time with loved ones in an extraordinary location, look to Wisconsin’s many elegant bed and breakfasts. Here are just a handful of the state’s exceptional B&Bs.

Honeybee Inn Bed & Breakfast – Horicon

Looking for an incredibly charming, rom-com kind of bed and breakfast? Honeybee Inn Bed & Breakfast has you covered. The historic B&B offers four cozy guest rooms with whirlpool tubs, fireplaces and breakfast served by candlelight. Relax in the communal library or on the large porch to soak up quality time together. Nature lovers will love being just down the road from the bird-watching favorite Horicon Marsh as well as the Wild Goose State Trail.

Mon Bijou – Oconomowoc

If you’ve ever dreamed of staying in a castle, this luxurious bed and breakfast is for you. Modeled after a real-life castle near Vienna, inside Mon Bijou (translation: “My Jewel") you’ll find elegant chandeliers, hand-carved woodwork and exquisite furnishings fit for royalty.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, over the years the B&B has hosted beer-brewing elites, including the Miller, Anheuser, Busch and Pabst families, as well as Mark Twain and several American presidents. Stay at “the Jewel of Lake Country” to join their ranks and explore all Oconomowoc has to offer.

Inn at Wawanissee Point – Baraboo

Perched atop the breathtaking Baraboo bluffs, the Inn at Wawanissee Point is the perfect secluded getaway any time of year. The luxurious, adults-only villa is surrounded by 42 acres of scenic hiking trails and just two miles from Devil’s Lake State Park. Also close by is Wollersheim Winery & Distillery, the International Crane Foundation, Ho-Chunk Gaming and more.

Inside the inn, you’ll find expansive window views, a sauna and fresh breakfasts each morning. At night, relax in the outdoor hot tub under the stars and reconnect with your favorite person.

Lake Orchard Farm Retreat – Sheboygan

If you’re all about a unique, authentically Wisconsin experience, Lake Orchard Farm Retreat in Sheboygan is perfect. On one side of the property is a nine-hole golf course, with the magnificent Lake Michigan on the other.

Inside, you’ll find four luxurious rooms, a clubhouse with a bar and pool table, whirlpool tubs, fresh farm breakfasts and more. Stroll the farm (now an aquaponics operation) and take in all of the seasonal recreational opportunities like hiking, free use of on-site bikes and snowshoes.

Old Rittenhouse Inn – Bayfield

Make your trip to Bayfield extra special by staying at the Old Rittenhouse Inn. The historic property includes two Victorian homes and a private cottage, all with spectacular views of Lake Superior.

A standout of this bed and breakfast is the on-site restaurant. The Landmark offers upscale American and French cuisine, often featuring locally sourced ingredients. Fill up before and after exploring picturesque Bayfield, the Apostle Islands, Frog Bay Tribal National Park and more.

The Livingston Inn – Madison

The Livingston Inn is not only a unique place to stay but also an important landmark in the history of Madison: Two of the city’s first mayors – William T. Leitch and Moses R. Doyon – lived in the house in the late 1800s.

You’ll feel as regal as ever when you experience this historic home and its nine fireplaces, 11-foot first-floor ceilings, lake access and stunning architectural details. Plus, you’ll be just down the road from State Street, the Capitol building and in the summer, the Dane County Farmers’ Market.
