All Aboard! Wisconsin Snow Trains

Share

Enjoy the best of Mother Nature’s winter magic, including icicle-covered trees and snowy hills, from behind the frosted window of a train. Weaving your way through blankets of snow as a warm and cozy passenger of a Wisconsin winter train is one of the best ways to experience stunning winter scenery. With Jack Frost as your conductor, hop aboard for wintertime fun on one of the following Wisconsin railways this season.

Mid-Continent Railway Santa Express - North Freedom

Get the whole family in the Christmas spirit with a ride on the Santa Express on the Mid-Continent Railway. You and your crew will stay nice and warm in the heated cars on this early 1900s train as Santa and Mrs. Claus visit each family over the 55-minute, 7-mile ride through the sparkling Wisconsin landscape. These rides take place in late November through early December each year. You can also book tickets on their Holiday Flyer ride, which includes hot chocolate and takes place at sunset.

East Troy Electric Railroad - East Troy

Let the East Troy Electric Railroad make your holiday season extra merry. Tag along this season for their holiday-themed rides, including the Christmas Train. Hop aboard one of the heated trolleys and watch the snow-covered hills pass by as you make your way to the Elegant Farmer to visit Santa’s workshop and take family photos with Father Christmas.

Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad - Spooner

northern railroad

Have a pizza party with Santa on one of the Great Northern Railroad’s diesel locomotives in a charming vintage train car. You and your family will travel along the wintry Wisconsin countryside on a track that was laid more than 100 years ago. Also included is hot chocolate, holiday cookies and plenty of Christmas cheer.

Looking for a magical date night instead? Book two tickets for the adults-only Holiday Wine Train and celebrate the season with your special someone.

The Polar Express - Green Bay

Book your tickets early to experience this popular Wisconsin holiday tradition at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay. Before the ride, you and your group can stroll through a hall of decorated Christmas trees, explore full-sized trains and play reindeer games. Once aboard the Christmas train, you’ll interact with characters from the story as you travel to the “North Pole.”
