Camp in Style: Glamping in Wisconsin

Share

If you’re searching for a camping-like experience with a little more comfort, this is your sign to try glamping. The more glamorous camping experience combines time spent in nature with modern luxuries that aren't usually accommodated by a traditional camping trip. Whether you’re a family with kids, a couple looking for a getaway or a group of friends looking for an adventure, glamping is a fun, chic alternative to camping that makes for an unforgettable vacation.

Coadys’ Point of View Resort - Phelps

The Coady family moved up from Chicago to revive the traditional Northwoods getaway. Now the Point of View Resort, this family-focused destination provides top-tier amenities immersed in nature.

Each of the resort’s glamping options is truly unique. Stay in a renovated 1965 Airstream Camper or sleep up to 8 in a giant luxury A-frame tent. You can also choose a Hawaiian luxury tent — the 16-foot yurt-style tent is fitted with 1930s Hawaiian décor, and the transparent ceiling gives you a front-row seat to the stars. The bathroom facility is air-conditioned, with hot showers and sinks, and it’s cleaned twice daily.

Just outside of your glamping site, look around — you’re nestled in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest on North Twin Lake. Numerous hiking and ATV trails are close by, and multiple lakes and streams make for great fishing, paddling and more. With beaches, docks, firepits, hammocks and outdoor games right at the resort, you and your group can enjoy all the classic camping activities while staying in style.

Smokey Hollow Campground - Lodi

Stay at Smokey Hollow Campground for an easy family vacation with abundant amenities. Gazebos, yurts, and even covered wagons are all unique glamping sites available for rent at this resort south of Wisconsin Dells.

The resort’s many amenities make it easy to find new, fun things to explore. Catch some sun on the swimming pond’s beach, work on your putting game with unlimited access to the minigolf course and take turns dunking each other in the dunk tank. A general store selling souvenirs, groceries and firewood is open in case you run out of something or want a ready-to-eat tasty treat. On-site laundry facilities help you return from your vacation relaxed and rejuvenated. For extra fun, Devil’s Lake State Park is just a thirty-minute drive away.

Justin Trails Resort - Sparta

There’s so much to enjoy at Justin Trails, and the comfy lodgings and amenities make it a truly unforgettable experience. Choose from two log cabins, three deluxe suites in a 1920 farmhouse, an upscale cottage, a camping cabin or three primitive campsites for your stay.

On the 200-acre property, say “hi” to the resident llamas (named Porter and Stout), hike trails, swap stories around a campfire and even enjoy two professionally designed disc golf courses. Be sure to enjoy the resort’s breakfast each morning in the lodge made from locally sourced ingredients that can be catered to gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan needs.

Silver Springs Campsites – Rio

Offering cabins and campsites with electrical and water hookups, this South Central Wisconsin campground is chock full of amenities. A spring-fed pond and sandy beach offer kids a contained place to enjoy the floating water toys or play sand volleyball. Hiking trails are nearby along with paved paths perfect for bike riding.

If the pond water is chilly, a heated pool ensures the swimming fun can continue. And while each campsite offers a fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows or hot dogs over an open flame, the S’more Snacks Shack serves up great eats for poolside dining or carryout. A weekly movie, game room and organized activities ensure your whole family will stay entertained during an extended stay or just a quick weekend getaway.

Camp Wandawega - Elkhorn

While Camp Wandawega emphasizes its “no frills” style, their Camp Cabin Cluster is too charming not to mention here. Reserve this group of lodgings that sleep up to nine guests total to experience a one-of-a-kind stay in nature. The site includes two 100-year-old Girl Scout cabins plus a large canvas platform tent for groups of up to 9, all decorated with unique antiques.

Be aware that glamping here still means using an outhouse and having little to no electricity–closer to camping with cool sleeping spaces. With a focus on escaping to the woods to spend time together, this outdoor experience is sure to bring you closer together with loved ones.
