Glide Into Winter Fun at Titletown

Share

Titletown — one of the nicknames for Green Bay, Wisconsin — pays tribute to the 13 World Championship titles won by the Green Bay Packers. But in the backyard of Lambeau Field is another Titletown, a lively district that offers year-round fun for locals and visitors alike. Read on to discover some of the exciting winter activities you can enjoy here with family and friends.

Take a Tubular Ride

In the summer, Titletown’s Ariens Hill is a great spot for visitors to relax and enjoy a variety of park activities and programs. During the winter, the sloped green space is transformed into a tubing paradise, where riders descend from the top of the 46-foot hill on one of two tubing lanes.

For maximum enjoyment (and efficiency!) an automated system returns tubes to the top of the hill, so riders can concentrate on climbing the heated stairs and readying themselves for their next ride. Snow-making machines and grooming equipment ensure the snow is always ready for action.

Have an Ice Day

Lace up those skates — your own, or a rental pair — and glide on Titletown’s ice skating rink. The rink, which includes a skating trail that weaves under Ariens Hill, is surrounded by protective railings and includes a nearby fire pit for a quick warm-up.  If you’re looking to take your skating to the next level, the facility offers a limited amount of complimentary weekly lessons for kids and adults — a must for anyone looking to perfect their turns, circles, and backwards skating skills.

Not so sturdy on skates? Try one of Titletown’s ice bikes, where you can pedal and steer on the ice just like you would on a traditional bike.

Refuel and Warm Up

After a day out on the snow and ice, food — and a warm beverage or two — is a must. 46 Below (named in honor of the Ice Bowl, the 1967 NFL Championship Game at Lambeau Field where the temperatures famously dipped to 46 degrees below zero), offers comfort food like burgers and sandwiches as well as coffee drinks, hot chocolate and hot cider. There’s also the nearby Hinterland Restaurant and Brewery, where you can nibble on wood-fired pizza, hot soup and no shortage of delicious appetizers.

Know Before You Go

Snow tubing and ice skating are open daily, pending weather. If you’re planning a visit, head to Titletown’s website or social media channels for updates that might affect your trip.

Also keep an eye out for fun events like the Winter Jubilee, Santa Claws + Paws for Christmas pet photos, concerts and more!
