Turtle-Flambeau Flowage Scenic Waters Area - Mercer
Looking for a camping experience with adventure built in?? The flowage of the Turtle-Flambeau Scenic Waters Area offers 66 remote sites that are only accessible by boat. Most of these sites currently require no reservation, so paddlers can glide through the waters for different campsites on a first-come, first-served basis (this will change beginning in 2026).Â
Everyone will remember the trip where they paddled from campsite to campsite to stay somewhere different each night of their trek. Some of these sites are also in the voluntary quiet area that takes up 20% of the flowage. These sites offer a serene getaway for paddlers, campers and anglers alike. Â
Newport State Park - Ellison Bay
Newport State Park in Door County is a backpacker’s paradise. The park covers eleven miles of sparkling Lake Michigan shoreline and thirty miles of hiking trails. Amnicon Falls State Park - South Range

The campground is mostly rustic and the 36 shaded campsites have no electric hookups or showers, but that’s exactly what allows for the sounds of the waterfalls and rapids of the Amnicon River to travel their way to your campsite.
