Where to Find Spring Cherry Blossoms in Wisconsin

Share

Spring in Wisconsin brings with it all sorts of beautiful blooms, including the iconic white and pink cherry tree blossoms. No need to travel to Japan or Washington D.C. for scenic photo-ops with these exquisite flowers; read on to discover where to find cherry tree blossoms throughout Wisconsin.

Door County: A Cherry Blossom Wonderland

Door County’s geography, climate and soil create ideal conditions for growing cherry trees. As the fourth-largest cherry-growing region in the nation, this area of Wisconsin has become famous for producing this flavorful fruit. While cherry-picking season doesn't arrive until late July, spring is the perfect time to experience the magic of 2,500 acres of sweet-smelling, blooming cherry orchards.

When do Door County’s cherry blossoms bloom?

While exact timing varies year to year, the white and pink petals typically emerge mid- to late May. Once the trees are in bloom, you may only have a one to two-week window to experience the spectacular sight and smell of the orchards. Use the Door County Cherry Blossom Report to stay up-to-date on each stage of these special trees and make the most of this spring tradition.

Where can I find cherry blossoms in Door County?

Just about everywhere! Start on the aptly named Cherry Lane and Highway 42, where you can see rows of delicate blooms that create a postcard-perfect backdrop. For the ultimate excursion, book a ride on a horse-drawn carriage for a Spring Blossom Tour to see blooming orchards, partake in a wine-tasting and enjoy lunch in Fish Creek. Or, curate your own tour of the peninsula’s orchards and be sure to pick up a few delicious cherry treats. Here are a few suggestions:

Lautenbach's Orchard Country Winery - Fish Creek

Stop and stroll through through the fragrant rows of cherry blossoms at Lautenbach’s, a family-owned farm that’s been a Door County staple since 1955. In addition to offering scenic photo-ops, the property includes a large market filled with cherry treats galore, as well as a winery and cidery offering over 50 wines and ciders grown and produced onsite.

Seaquist Orchards Farm Market - Sister Bay

With 1,000 acres of Montmorency cherry orchards that produce around 6 million pounds of cherries in an average year, Seaquist Orchards is an iconic Door County cherry operation. The farm typically opens for visitors in early May, just before the trees begin to bloom. Visit to wander the gorgeous orchards and be sure to take home some of their famously delicious cherry pie.

Robertson Orchards - Sturgeon Bay

This charming orchard in Sturgeon Bay has been in the same family for five generations and welcomes guests to enjoy the spring cherry tree bloom and visit their self-serve store for harvest treats. Come back in July for pick-your-own cherries, to visit the orchard museum and enjoy a picnic among the scenic trees.
