One of the most popular trail systems for hiking and cross-country skiing in the Northern Unit is the the Zillmer Trail Area. Four different trail loops makeup the Zillmer Hiking and Skiing trails. A total combined length of 11.4 miles is available ranging in skiing difficulty from easy to difficult all of which are groomed for both skating and traditional cross-country skiing. The trailhead at Highway SS provides a nice area for picnicking, complete with tables, grills, toilets and drinking water.
