Established in 1839, Milton was once a railroad hub in south-central Wisconsin. Milton College enlivened the community from 1844 until 1982. Today, several of the college buildings have found new life as antique shops, offices, apartments, and the city library. Nearby, the Milton House Museum which served as a stagecoach inn was once a station on the Underground Railroad, complete with a secret escape tunnel. Nearby, be sure to visit the Northleaf Winery for a taste or pick up a bottle to take home. Lake Koshkonong, a popular boating and camping destination, is nearby.
