6 Wisconsin Spots For Dog-Friendly Dining & Drinking

Share

Traveling with your pup can add fun to any adventure in Wisconsin. Here are some spots that throw dog-lovers a bone with spacious patios and special treats just for them. Due to state laws prohibiting animals in establishments that cook on-site, most of these are for diners on the deck—many with great views.

Kiltie Drive-In – Oconomowoc

The Kiltie Drive-In in Oconomowoc has been serving up Kiltie burgers and frozen custard for generations, delivered old school-style—to your window by carhops.

Stop in with the kids while vacationing the “Lake Country” and your whole family, including your pup, can sit at outdoor picnic benches while taking in this local and longtime drive-in tradition. Open only in the summer months, this restaurant is cash only and will definitely hit the spot.

One Barrel Brewing and Alchemy Cafe – Madison

On Madison’s east side, the climate in this neighborhood is friendly and hip. Take in the art galleries and eclectic shops along Williamson (Willy) and Atwood Streets, many of which are dog-friendly, and then stop at One Barrel Brewing, where you and your canine pal can sit inside together while you sip a micro-brew with friends.

Dine across the street at Alchemy, and your dog can sit at your feet within their outdoor sidewalk seating. From there, it’s only a few blocks to Yahara Place Park right on Lake Monona and with plenty of spots for picnicking.

Springers of Lake Kegonsa – Stoughton

Boaters traveling up or down the Yahara River-connected lakes with their dog in tow will find a deck-welcome spot for Fido, and a classic Wisconsin supper club menu, at Springers of Lake Kegonsa in Stoughton. Soak up the sun and enjoy prime rib or a fish fry with your favorite people and pet before hopping back on the boat.

Delta Beer Lab – Madison

Another Madison brewery happy to welcome your pup is Delta Beer Lab. This LGBTQ-owned business is the perfect spot to bring your friends (including the four-legged ones) and spend quality time together tasting craft brews like a Dirty Chai Brown Ale or Cherry Pie Cider-Beer.

To pair with your brew, Delta offers locally made pizzas, giant pretzels and popcorn perfect for sharing. Or, bring your own picnic from one of the restaurants nearby.

Vino Latte – Wausau

If you’re on your way up to the Northwoods, stop in Wausau off Highway 51 to discover a picturesque historic district with great places to refuel.

Vino Latte offers gourmet coffee and a large selection of wine, as well as sandwiches, wraps and pizzas perfect for a lunch stop. Your pup can join you on the patio to soak up as much relaxing outside time as possible.

Good Thyme Restaurant & Catering – Washburn

On your way up to Lake Superior, stop in Washburn, just south of The Red Cliff Reservation near Bayfield, and enjoy the delicious menu at Good Thyme Restaurant & Catering. Look for the big yellow house which also serves as a wedding and event venue. Your pup is welcome to sit on the deck or stretch under a shady tree in the adjacent backyard as you enjoy something tasty and take in the area’s natural beauty.
