7 Dog-Friendly Breweries in Southeastern Wisconsin

Share

No need to leave your best pal at home! You can hit the pub with your pup at these seven breweries, beer gardens and beer-serving patios in the Madison and Milwaukee areas. Be sure to check out each spot’s pet policies to stay in the know and worry free.

BoneyardMadison

The name probably gave it away — this one is for the dogs. Designed with our four-legged friends in mind, the Boneyard dog park and biergarten is a perfect place to hang with friends — both human and canine.

At the Boneyard, your dog can enjoy the indoor bar on a leash or spend time in the two off-leash outdoor areas. In between pats and play time, you’ll be sipping a craft beer, hard seltzer, wine or non-alcoholic drink of your choice. You’ll find some snacks available at the bar, and local food trucks often visit.

Safety is top priority, so be sure to sign the Boneyard’s online waiver and make sure your pup’s vaccinations are all up to date before your visit!

Vintage Brewing CompanySauk Prairie

Well-behaved dogs are welcome at this award-winning brewery’s beer garden and outdoor patio! Enjoy the wide Wisconsin River views and quality time with your friends and your dog.

Try Vintage’s flagship beer, the Woodshed oaked IPA, or savor the Sauk Prairie location’s signature Sauk Hop pale hop. The Sauk Hop is crafted from locally grown hops, many from family farms nearby.

Dirty Dog Taphaus – New Glarus

Sit back with your doggo and friends in downtown New Glarus at the Dirty Dog’s outdoor patio. What set’s this opened-in-2022 hangout apart? The pour-your-own style taps and lots of local and Wisconsin-made brews to choose from.

Be sure to explore more of New Glarus on your visit. This “Little Switzerland” has eye-popping Swiss architecture, cool shops and great restaurants. Plus, the nearby state park makes for a great hike for you and your crew, including your four-legged friends.

Rock Bottom BreweryMilwaukee

Take a stroll with your pet through the heart of the city on the two-mile downtown RiverWalk, and be sure to let the “Bronze Fonz,” a statue of Fonzie from “Happy Days,” hold the leash for a photo op.

When you’re ready for some refreshment, settle onto Rock Bottom’s patio overlooking the Milwaukee River. In addition to beers brewed on-site, you can order food ranging from pub fare to ale dough pizzas to steaks.

Tyranena Brewing Company Lake Mills

Maybe you’re exploring Native American history at Aztalan State Park or you’re checking out the beautiful Rock Lake? A cold beer must sound like the perfect refreshment and Tyranena is close by.

Call ahead about a half-hour before you arrive and ask the bartender if it’s a good time for a doggie visit. If there are no ongoing events or large crowds, your leashed pooch is welcome, provided he’s people-friendly and willing to hang out with Tyranena’s on-site brewery dogs.

There’s no food menu here, which is why it’s possible to bring furry family members inside, but you’ll love the brews here and local stories behind them. Ask about Rocky’s Revenge or the Chief Black Hawk Porter.

Capital Brewery Middleton

This Madison-area brewery loves tail-waggers, and they’re invited (you are, too) to hang out on the patio year-round. Check beforehand to make sure there are no special events scheduled during your visit.

There’s no food menu, but Capital makes up for it by offering right around 20 brews at any given time. Try the Supper Club, a classic lager honoring one of Wisconsin’s finest food traditions, or Island Wheat, made with grain from Washington Island.

Wisconsin Brewing Company Verona

The brewers at WBC love their dogs, and to prove it, there’s a Chocolate Lab porter on the menu inspired by their four-legged friends. Instead of a traditionally bitter black malt, you’ll taste creamy, smooth chocolate and caramel notes with just a bit of bite.

The sprawling backyard at WBC overlooks a pond and is the perfect spot for you and your dog. Kick back in an Adirondack chair shaped like Wisconsin with your best friend at your feet.
