Discover the Door County Wine Trail

Share

Door County is a beloved vacation spot for many reasons: the breathtaking landscape set against Lake Michigan, the charming, welcoming communities and the abundance of craft wineries that use the unique coastal climate to produce deliciously unique blends.

Composed of nine distinctive wineries, each stop on the Door County Wine Trail promises new flavors for you and your group to enjoy while making memories together.

Start your journey in Egg Harbor with a premier wine tour via the Door County Trolley. The route will stop at three wineries on the trail, which rotate between Door 44, Harbor Ridge, Door Peninsula, Red Oak and Anchored Roots wineries. You’ll meet with vintners, hear about each spot’s history, do some tasting and stop for lunch at a local eatery.

Be sure to get tickets in advance for this popular outing. Tours run seven days a week from June through October, with some extra dates in May and November.

Make your trip extra special with a visit to Spa Verde Green Salon & Spa in Egg Harbor or Settlement Courtyard Inn and Lavender Spa in nearby Fish Creek for the ultimate luxurious weekend.

Next, head northeast to Stone’s Throw Winery in Egg Harbor. You and your group can enjoy fine wines made onsite from California grapes one barrel at a time in the tasting room or tapas bar.

From there, it’s a short trip to Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery that offers 50 wines and hard ciders produced onsite from fruit grown on the estate including cherries, grapes, raspberries and pears. The winery is in a restored dairy barn—it doesn’t get more Wisconsin than that! You can even bring your pup along.

No wine tasting is complete without a fabulous meal to pair it with, and those aren’t in short supply in Door County. Catch up over a pie at Fish Creek favorite Wild Tomato Wood-Fired Pizza Grille or Alexander’s, which combines fine dining with a traditional Wisconsin supper club feel.

Stay somewhere special to make your wine trail getaway unforgettable. Share a cottage at The Whistling Swan or stay at the historic White Gull Inn for charming vibes, or go the resort route at Newport Resort or Landmark Resort.

Finish your Wine Trail tour with a stop at Simon Creek Winery in Sturgeon Bay. Tours are free and there is often live music to enjoy on the deck while sampling Simon Creek specialties like Peninsula Gold and Speakeasy Red.

With all the luxuries, panoramic views and hospitality Door County has to offer, exploring this wonderful wine trail is sure to be a great getaway.
