Located in central Wisconsin, Marathon County is the largest county by land area in the state. This land is put to great use by visitors looking to enjoy outdoor fun all four seasons. Granite Peak is a popular destination for viewing the gorgeous foliage in the fall and downhill skiing in the winter. The region is also host to the Junior Olympic Trials for cross country skiing as well as world class whitewater kayaking competitions. Ice fishing, hunting, ATVing, camping, golfing, and snowmobiling are just a few ways visitors can have outdoor fun in Marathon County. Wausau is also known as 'Arts Town, USA' so those looking for culture will love the Woodson Art Museum and catching a Broadway play at the historic Grand Theater.
