Holiday Lights: 7 Spectacular Shows in Wisconsin

Between the dazzling snow, twinkling stars in winter skies and shimmering frost that covers the trees, Wisconsin truly shines this time of year. The many holiday light shows throughout the state only add to the magic of our sparkling surroundings.

From drive-through light shows, to walking in a (glittering!) wonderland, to even viewing lights from a boat, your family will make wonderful holiday memories at these light shows.

Rotary Holiday Lights – La Crosse

A 140-foot Christmas tree is just the frosting on the cake at this holiday light show in La Crosse. A staggering 3 million lights in all their Christmas glory can be viewed at Riverside Park, where your family can also take part in ice-skating, carriage rides and seeing Santa.

Lakeside Park Holiday Lights and Light Show – Fond du Lac

Fond du Lac’s Lake Winnebago is a headquarters for summer activities on the water—until Lakeside Park shows off top-to-bottom holiday lights, that is. Park your car and listen to Christmas music on the radio that pairs up with trees that dance and shimmer for a 20-minute show.

Lights in Lincoln Park – Manitowoc

How about a holiday light show that’s beautiful to behold and benefits the animals of the Lincoln Park Zoo? Drive through the park and peer at a 60-foot tunnel of lights and animated displays showcasing critters like peacocks and reindeer. You’ll even receive free hot cocoa and cookies.

Holiday Fantasy in Lights – Madison

As the Capitol shines in the background, families from Madison and beyond make their annual pilgrimage to the famed Holiday Fantasy in Lights held at Olin-Turville Park. Delight in festive displays that celebrate Wisconsin culture, like Bucky Badger and the Packers, as you gaze upon a gorgeous view of the Madison skyline.

Making Spirits Bright – Sheboygan

Drive a mile through Sheboygan’s Evergreen Park, where you won’t believe the colorful lights covering the trees. Bring a food donation to benefit local pantries and stop at the Quarryview Center, where you can enter a wreath raffle and sit down with Saint Nick in person.

Holiday Light Show at Rotary Botanical Gardens – Janesville

Bundle up for a holiday light experience you won’t soon forget. At the Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville, you and your little ones will marvel at an astounding 750,000 lights, making the trees and greenery in the gardens sparkle. Be sure to buy your tickets ahead of time so you can enjoy the lights, live entertainment and visits with Santa.

Santa Cruise – Williams Bay

Now here’s a new way to see holiday lights! The Lake Geneva Cruise Line transports passengers from their Williams Bay launch to a fairyland of lights that’s best viewed from a boat. Out on the water, your kids will love the shoreline light displays that depict a fanciful voyage to the North Pole.
