Top 10 Activities for Kids at the State Fair

For 11 days every summer, the Wisconsin State Fair brings rural and urban together with animals, food, rides, music, and more! There’s a reason going to the Fair is a favorite summer tradition for so many families – after trying these family-friendly activities, it’s sure to become one of yours!

Ride the WonderWheel in SpinCity
North America’s largest traveling Ferris wheel makes its Wisconsin debut this year at the Fair! Fully-enclosed gondolas seat up to six, and you’ll get a one-of-a-kind look at the state with visibility of 10 miles or more at the top of the 15-story-high ferris wheel.

Watch the racing pigs
Far from the big, lazy pigs you’ll see napping in the livestock barns, these little guys are fast and furious, racing for their favorite prize: an oreo!

Take a trip down the Giant Slide
A green and yellow mountain rising up from the fairgrounds, taking a trip down the slide atop your burlap sack is a fun (and fast!) tradition.

Sip flavored milk for 50 cents
When the kids get thirsty, stop at the Milwaukee Bucks Milk House for a cup of Wisconsin milk – since each cup is only a quarter, your family can try all of the flavors!

Enjoy free music and entertainment
From puppet shows to jugglers, bands to comedians, you’ll find free family-friendly entertainment on stages all across the fairgrounds.

Take a break at the Exploratory Park
This wooded oasis is the perfect place to take a break from the bustle and find out more about the natural world of Wisconsin.

See the baby animals
At the Compeer Financial Discovery Barnyard, kids can learn about Wisconsin’s agriculture industry with demonstrations and fun activities – and see some baby farm animals!

Visit the Kohl’s Activity Zone
Open from 9-5 daily, kids can enjoy hands-on projects, theatrical performances, and more in this kid-friendly zone.

Browse the Wisconsin Products Pavilion
An informative and often delicious stop, this is where your family will learn all about what we produce right here in Wisconsin, from cheese to cranberries.

Eat a cream puff
Fair visitors eat an average of 350,000 cream puffs each year – is it really a visit to the State Fair without one? We don’t think so!
