Six Wisconsin Sports Bars to Visit on Game Day

By Derrick Zimmerman

A good sports bar has plenty of TVs, delicious food and great drinks. But it’s the atmosphere that makes a good sports bar a great sports bar. From the shadows of Lambeau Field to favorite Wisconsin Badger hang-outs, visitors will find hundreds of sports-oriented establishments in which they can eat, drink and cheer on their favorite team. Here are a few of our favorites:

Lucky’s 1313 Brew PubMadison

ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt once called Madison, Wisconsin America’s greatest college sports town, and if you’ve been to Madison on a Badger game day, you understand why. Lucky’s is located in a repurposed repair garage providing a unique backdrop for watching your team. Stop on in before, during or after to experience a wide variety of food and craft beers, including several exclusive brews.

Howie’s on La CrosseLa Crosse

Whether you’re spending the day exploring vibrant downtown La Crosse or enjoying the mighty Mississippi River, you’ll find the perfect place to gather for the game at Howie’s. Friends and families alike will love the casual and fun atmosphere that amps up on game days. If your hands are empty, grab one of their popular Bloody Marys!

B-LuxWisconsin Dells

If you’re in-between splashing excursions in the Waterpark Capital of the World and don’t want to miss a single moment of action, grab your friends and head to B-Lux. Within walking distance to many of your favorite resorts, you’ll find plenty of seating, quality locally-sourced foods and plenty of TVs to watch.

Who’s on ThirdMilwaukee

Who’s on third? I don’t know. We do know that Who’s on Third is serving up delicious wings during your favorite team’s game. Enjoy downtown convenience being within walking distance to the home of the Bucks, Marquette Golden Eagles and just a short bus ride away from Milwaukee’s trendy East Side or Historic Third Ward.

Cross Country Bar & GrillRhinelander

Located right off some of Wisconsin’s best snowmobile trails, it’s not uncommon to see more than just cars in the parking lot of Cross Country Bar & Grill. You’ll find classic rustic décor, a great outdoor patio, sand volleyball courts and more, so drop on by to root for the home team! Or the away team…we won’t judge you for it.

Stadium ViewGreen Bay

There’s no better place to watch a football game than historic Lambeau Field, but if you can’t score tickets to the big game, you’ll find a championship atmosphere at Stadium View, situated nearly in the shadow of Lambeau. If you’re not visiting on a Packers game day, take a tour of Lambeau Field and the Packers Hall of Fame and swing in for a sports bar experience you won’t soon forget.
