Moccasin Lake Cross Country Ski Trail
Moccasin Lake Cross Country Ski Trail is 5.5 miles long and is groomed and tracked for both traditional and skate ski style. The trail weaves its course through changing scenery dominated by maples, birch, pine, and hemlock. The trail oversees two river basins: the Prairie flowing west, and the Hunting flowing east. On the eastern leg, the view overlooks a vast black spruce swamp which extends all the way to and beyond Elcho. The far end offers three fun hills: the Luge, the Expressway, and the Muskellunge. Moccasin Lake has a separate snowshoe trail that is packed.
In spring/summer time the trails are used for horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking. Moccasin is set up for primitive horse camping with pull-in sites. The sites have a gravel pad, picnic table, and fire ring. There is a small, three-sided shelter, pit toilet and hand pump for water. Facilities also include a parking area.
