Opened in 1936 in a former 1800s dry goods store, Cedarburg’s Rivoli Theatre has been a beloved community gathering place for generations. Originally boasting a striking art deco facade with black Carrara glass, chrome trim, and a sidewalk ticket booth, the theater quickly became known for its modern comforts and elegant style. Today, the Rivoli remains the last single-screen theater in Ozaukee County, offering an old-fashioned movie-going experience in the heart of Cedarburg’s historic downtown. Operated by the Cedarburg Landmark Preservation Society since 2006, the theater has undergone careful restoration to bring back its 1930s charm, complete with a classic glass-enclosed ticket booth and vintage-inspired marquee. From family outings to first dates, the Rivoli continues to capture the magic of seeing a film together—just as it has for nearly a century.
