Prairie Springs Park
Prairie Springs Park features a 2.3 mile asphalt walking/jogging trail, nature trails, children's tot lot playgrounds, sand volleyball pits, baseball/softball fields, archery range, swimming, windsurfing, fishing (including ice fishing!), and boating.
During the summer months, Lake Andrea Beer Garden operates on weekends within the park and offers brews, special events, food trucks, live music, and more with a premium view of Lake Andrea. The festival grounds adjacent to the Beer Garden hosts food truck rallies, Pleasant Prairie HarborMarket, Harvest Fest, and more throughout the year.
Several open-air pavilions are available to rent for your next family reunion or corporate picnic. Additionally, an indoor beach pavilion is available to rent and can accommodate up to 72 people. It is kept at a comfortable 70 degrees year-round, and includes a kitchen, fireplace, and indoor bathrooms.
Froggy’s Landing, located near the beach pavilion is a great place for both members and non-members alike to rent paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks for use within the park on Lake Andrea.
Additional Trails: Hackbarth Trail, accessible across from the Lake Andrea beach pavilion branches into a series of naturally surfaced or wood chipped paths heading northwest through the woods and wetlands. It extends two miles and includes access to an observation deck overlooking the wetlands as well as a boardwalk and bridge over the Des Plaines River, where visitors can look out toward the Jerome Creek Preserve.
Visitors can find the Prairie Farms trailhead located at the northern part of Prairie Springs Park, near the Lake Andrea boat launch. The HWY C multipurpose bridge makes looping from one trail to the other even easier.
Prairie Springs Park is an extremely dog-friendly area as well! There is a dog beach located on the north end of Lake Andrea within Prairie Springs Park and dogs are welcome on any of the paths, trails, and outdoor spaces of the park.
Also located at Prairie Springs is the largest municipal recreation facility in America, the RecPlex. At 302,000 square feet, the RecPlex offers several types of memberships including those for corporations. Weekly passes are available to visitors. Enjoy the indoor suspended walking/running track, water-park, field-house, racquetball and squash courts, group, and individual fitness opportunities. Indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the park are available for rent to host parties, meetings, and more.
