This 40 acre forest is located 4 miles west of Spring Valley on 410th Street just south of Hwy 29. This forest serves as an outdoor classroom for forestry education. Visitors will find a 0.6 mile self-guided, interpretive trail winding through the forest.
Stationed throughout the trail are tree identification
interpretation markers. Over 15 trees have been identified for observation. The most abundant tree species in the forest are oak, maple, basswood, and ash.
The trail can also be utilized in the winter for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. There is a spacious parking lot to accommodate several vehicles as well as a few school buses. The entire trail takes about one half hour to complete.
This property was made possible through a donation by John and Mary Heisler du Lac.
