Kites Over Lake Michigan
September 5, 2020 - September 6, 2020
The 15th Annual Kites Over Lake Michigan will be held not at our venue the past 14 years, Neshotah Beach, but at the Two Rivers High School due to the high lake level. We were fortunate, and very grateful, that the Two Rivers School Board allowed us to continue with the event at the high school. There is a vast expanse of flying and viewing areas behind the school which is perfect for this. We are very sensitive to this strange year of the pandemic and are mindful of the health and safety of everyone who attends this festival, which has grown to be one of the largest in the Midwest. We will follow the recommended safety guidelines of the health authorities and encourage social distancing for everyone there. If you are sick, please stay home. If you are not comfortable in a festival setting yet, you can watch the festivities in the safety of your car. Those who come will be treated to some amazing displays of beautiful giant show kites, precision stunt teams performing mesmerizing aerial ballet with their dual and quad line kites, spectacular and colorful ground displays and activities for kids and adults both days. Neshotah Beach is the location for overflow parking. A shuttle bus service will run from the beach to the high school for both days, 11.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Free kite making for kids will be Sunday at 9.00 am.
Due to the change of venue this year, we will not be able to do any fireworks show and the release of Sky Lanterns.
NO ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO allowed on school grounds. It will be strictly enforced.
No set schedule for both days. except the kids’ kite making on Sunday. We operate on "kite time" because everything is dependent on the wind condition. Activities will go on regardless of wind conditions.
