Frank Lloyd Wright

Discover the unimaginable as you travel through architectural wonders created by America’s greatest architect, Frank Lloyd Wright.

Architectural Marvels

With a fair share of inspiration every step of the way, the Frank Lloyd Wright Trail is dotted with masterpieces waiting to be explored. Established in 2017, the trail has helped share his story and work with the world. Spanning from Kenosha through Southwest Wisconsin, it highlights Wright’s talent on a self-guided tour through nine counties. From research buildings and civic centers to mansions and homes, he has built some of the most iconic Wisconsin buildings.

His work along this trail includes the SC Johnson Administration building, SC Johnson Research Tower, Wingspread, Burnham, Monona Terrace, First Unitarian Society Meeting House, Taliesin and Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center, Wyoming Valley School Cultural Arts Center and the AD German Warehouse. More than one-third of these buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places or are included in the National Register of Historic Districts.

Wisconsin’s Nature, Wright’s Inspiration

With glimpses of the bluffs and coulees along the journey, his organic prairie-style work was inspired by the beautiful scenery. The Frank Lloyd Wright Trail begins on Interstate 94 at the Wisconsin-Illinois state line, continues to Madison and then travels through Frank’s hometown in Southwest Wisconsin. Easy-to-spot signs guide the way.

From classic restaurants and bakeries, there are countless stops along the way for adventure. And the area’s comfortable hotels can turn this tour into a multi-day getaway.
