The Iron River National Fish Hatchery is located in beautiful northern Wisconsin a few miles from Lake Superior near the town of Iron River. Upon arrival at the Iron River NFH, visitors may see up close the large coaster brook and lake trout broodstock which supply eggs to many hatcheries throughout the U.S. Some of these eggs remain on station where they are hatched and reared to be yearling fish, growing to be 6 inches in size. Native flora and fauna may also be seen throughout the hatchery’s 1,200 acres along its three mile trail system.

A tracked wheelchair for available for use on the hatchery’s trail system for anyone with mobility issues and can be reserved by contacting the hatchery.
