Pottawatomie Lighthouse
Wisconsin's first lighthouse, located on the north end of Rock Island State Park. Established 1836, rebuilt 1858, automated 1956. Visiting the lighthouse requires a boat ride to Rock Island, then a 1.25 mile hike (one-way) from the dock. Lighthouse has been restored and the tour includes climbing up to the lantern room for panoramic views. While the lantern room has been fully restored, complete with a replica 4th Order Fresnel lens, the active beacon shines from a separate skeleton tower located nearby. Rock Island is only accessible by the "Karfi" public ferry or private boat.
