Sankta Lucia Social

On December 10th Folklore Village observes Sankta Lucia, a Swedish celebration of the return of light in the darkness of winter. This very special Saturday Night Social is full of wintertime wonder. During the afternoon, children learn traditional Sankta Lucia songs and crafts. Children and adults shape the customary saffron buns into wonderful designs. The evening begins with a potluck at 5:30pm, followed by the Sankta Lucia procession of light and song. Children who want to participate in the Sankta Lucia procession must attend the afternoon workshop at 3:00pm.
