Funded by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Mary L. Nohl Fund and Joy Engine, and administered by the Lynden, the Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists provide unrestricted funds for artists to create new work or complete work in progress. Since 2003, the program has made a significant investment in the greater Milwaukee arts community, encouraging artists to live and make work here. The Fellowships also create—through the jurying process and culminating exhibition—an opportunity to promote local artistic production to a national audience.   The 2023 Fellows were chosen from a field of 157 applicants by a panel of three jurors: Jadine Collingwood, Assistant Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Thomas James, Independent Curator and Executive Director of The Last Resort Artist Retreat, Baltimore, Maryland; and Kimberly Kitada, Jedel Family Foundation Curatorial Fellow, Charlotte Street Foundation, Kansas City, Missouri.

This exhibition was curated by Acting Director Emilia Layden.
