Best Place to See Color
There are several beautiful drives, including County Road E between Phelps and Land O' Lakes, County Road K between Phelps and Conover, and Highway 17 towards Upper Michigan. Additionally, all of our lakes also provide beautiful color viewing by boat or from shore. Bars and restaurants located on lakes with excellent viewing include Great Escape Bar, Dublin's Mimosas, Phelps Hillside Restaurant, and Sunrise Lodge. Stop by the Phelps Chamber of Commerce and pick up a Scenic Rides map with the best routes to check out!

Area Activities and Events
Saturday, September 13, head to downtown Phelps for one of the Northwoods’ most unique fall festivals! See the streets filled with scarecrows, sling shot pumpkins into North Twin Lake, enjoy wine tasting, browse craft vendors, listen to live music with a cold beer, try food from a variety of vendors, and bring the kids for family games and activities. Don’t miss dozens of raffle baskets and more! Then mark your calendar for the Midwest Musky Classic October 3–5 on North and South Twin Lakes, Lac Vieux Desert, and Big Sand Lake. First place wins $1,200 and a replica of the winning fish, second place $1,000, and third place $800. This 45-year fall tradition brings friends and family together for a weekend of fishing, lakeside fun, and fall colors
