This well maintained Grist Mill, built in 1868, along the banks of the picturesque Tomorrow River, in the quaint Village of Nelsonville, 15 miles east of Stevens Point, is one of the oldest mills in this part of the state and the last of it's kind in Portage County. The mill was built by Jerome Nelson, for whom the village is named, following his return from the Civil War. The mill was recently placed on the State Registry of Historical Places and will soon be placed on the National Registry. The Mill has two major events each year, the Annual Art Show and Sale each Memorial Day weekend and the Open House which includes a multimedia exhibit of the Barns of Portage County in the fall.
