We all know Wisconsin as home to breweries big and small. But did you know that decades after the end of Prohibition, distilleries have started opening across Wisconsin once again? They craft a delicious range of spirits, and invite you to visit for observation, tours, and tastings.
To warm your spirits this winter (or any time of year), we recommend visiting the friendly folks at these favorite Wisconsin distilleries:
45th Parallel Spirits, New Richmond
Spirits: Bourbon, gin, vodka
Visits: Stop into the 45th Parallel store to sample the spirits and view the distillation process, or call ahead to book a tour, which includes a flight sample in the tasting room.
Door County Distillery, Carlsville
Spirits: Brandy, gin, vodka, whiskey
Visits: View the production area from the bridged foyer, and sample the spirits, including special fruit infusions.
Great Lakes Distillery, Milwaukee
Spirits: Absinthe, brandy, rum, vodka, whiskey…and a Pumpkin Seasonal Spirit
Visits: Stop in the tasting room for a cocktail, or take a whole distillery tour, which includes a flight of six spirits. Online reservations now accepted.

Infinity Beverages Artisan Winery & Distillery, Eau Claire
Spirits: Vodka, watermelon brandy (plus wines)
Visits: The tasting lounge provides a view of the distillery floor. Wine samples are free, and you might get a chance to try one of their works in progress. Check their website for special events, and book ahead.
Lo Artisan, Sturgeon Bay
Spirits: Traditional Hmong rice spirits
Visits: Check out the gift shop for Door County souvenirs, and book a free private tour of the distillery.
Minhas Micro Distillery, Monroe
Spirits: Gin, tequila, vodka, whiskey (plus liqueurs)
Visits: Tours include samples, a take-home “thank you” pack, and the chance to have your photo taken with their 1,000-gallon still, “Godstilla.”
North Woods Distillery, Coleman
Spirits: Rum
Visits: Tours and tastings are available by request. Try the toffee or chocolate mint rum, and learn all about North Woods’ fermentation, distillation and bottling processes.
Yahara Bay Distillers, Madison
Spirits: Gin, rum, vodka, whiskey (plus liqueurs) made with Wisconsin products
Visits: As well as tours and tastings by request, Yahara Bay hosts weekly socials with featured drinks and special guests.
