This October, Pianist Olga Kern returns to Overture Hall with another mesmerizing performance of one of the most-listened-to piano favorites of all time: Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody. Ms. Kern jump started her U.S. career with her historic Gold Medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, TX as the first woman to do so in more than 30 years. The October performance opens with Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso, before Ms. Kern’s stunning showcase of Rachmaninoff, and closes out with Beethoven’s “Eroica” (Heroic); an important landmark in the transition between the Classical period and the Romantic era.
