Art Preserve of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center
The John Michael Kohler Arts Center Art Preserve is the world’s first museum to focus entirely on work from artist-built environments.
Enjoy an inside peek at a working museum collection site designed to allow access to fascinating works of art, even when they are not featured in an exhibition. Floor by floor, immerse yourself in artist tableaux. Marvel at entire universes created by artists that have been meticulously reinstalled and interpreted at the Art Preserve. Take in the sheer size of the museum’s collection as you view thousands of items in curated, visible storage.
Located three miles from JMKAC, the 56,000-sq.-ft., three-level building holds more than 25,000 works in the Arts Center’s world-renowned collection, which includes complete and partial environments by more than thirty vernacular, self-taught, and academically trained artists.
