About Manitowoc Breakwater Lighthouse
Built in 1895, the Manitowoc Breakwater Lighthouse has welcomed ships along Lake Michigan for more than a century and remains one of the first landmarks visitors see when arriving by water. Standing 52 feet tall, the lighthouse features an automated Fresnel lens and offers a glimpse into Manitowoc’s rich maritime history.
Visitors can park at Lighthouse Park and walk the pier past the Paws & Play Dog Park to reach the historic lighthouse, where they can get a close-up look at the structure and enjoy views of Lake Michigan. The pier is open year-round, making it a great spot for a sunrise walk, a summer visit to the beach, or a peaceful stroll along the water.
The lighthouse is open for tours throughout the year through the Wisconsin Maritime Museum.
