Built in 1932 the historic Fifield Fire Tower stands in tribute to the lookouts that spent long days in the small cabin atop the tower watching for wisps of smoke that might indicate a fire. Interpretive signs provide visitors with the history of the tower and region.

A trail from the Wintergreen Parking Lot (crossing an ATV Trail) follows the original trail up to the tower allowing the public to hike to the tower. However, there is no public access to climb it.

A National Forest parking pass is required. The fee for a day pass can be paid at the parking area. An annual sticker can be purchased at the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest office.
