Winter is in full swing and there's events happening all around the state in January. In Wisconsin, our thought is why not own the winter wonderland? No sense in having the winter blues. Plan your fun winter activities today.

Big Chill/Ice & Snow FestivalRacine (Jan. 13-15, 2017)

The stakes are high and competitors cold (literally) for this year’s premiere snow sculpting affair. Dozens of the state’s best two-person sculpting teams will turn huge blocks of snow into breathtaking masterpieces. Grab your coat and cast your vote for the Wisconsin State Snow Sculpting champion.

Jack Frost FestSpooner (Jan. 14, 2017)

Enjoy a great family festival held on the Yellow River Flowage – complete with antique snowmobile shows, pond hockey, ice fishing and turkey bowling. Settle around the bonfire to keep warm, and roast some marshmallows. Who doesn’t love a good s‘more?

Monster JamMilwaukee (Jan. 20-21, 2017)

Featuring the biggest and best lineup of monster trucks, Monster Jam will have fans on their feet in a jiffy. Watch as these 12-foot, 10,000 pound machines offer the best racing, freestyle and wheelies as they soar over obstacles – or smash through. These beast machines are capable of flying up to 125 to 130 feet.

Winter Free Fishing WeekendStatewide (Jan. 21-22, 2017)

Fish anywhere in Wisconsin without a license or trout stamp on Free Fishing Weekend. Included are all inland waters and Wisconsin’s side of the Great Lakes and Mississippi River. Other fishing rules do apply. Pack up the family or call your friends and head to some frozen water for some fishing fun!

Cabin Fever FestBeaver Dam (Jan. 28-29, 2017)

If you’re looking for a full day of fun to break up the winter blues, Cabin Fever Fest is the place to be. These free outdoor activities at Crystal Lake Park include a chili cook-off, poetry contests and ice skating. If you’re thinking some relaxing sounds nice, be sure to go on a wagon ride through the park or lounge by the bonfire.

Merrill Winterfest Sled Dog RaceMerrill (Jan. 21-22, 2017)

Are you a dog lover, and enjoy watching winter competition? This event will have you cheering so loud, you’ll forget it’s winter in Wisconsin. More than 100 mushers compete during this weekend event. There’s skijoring; as well as kiddie and celebrity races too. This is positively a weekend your family won’t want to be stuck inside.

Great Lakes Pet ExpoWest Allis (Feb. 4, 2017)

A pet lover’s extravaganza! Featuring animals of all species and breeds, this event offers shows, shopping and games for adults and kids of all ages. Check out Bubba, the nine foot American Alligator or watch firefighters compete in an agility match with star canines. You can easily spend an entire day here checking out your favorite animals.

Chili FestOconomowoc (Jan. 28, 2017)

Enjoy Wisconsin’s winter in downtown Oconomowoc with a bowl, or two, of chili in hand. Stroll the streets, stopping in shops to check out their offerings while also taking part in the chili contest. Chili tasting is offered at approximately 20 businesses. Be sure to head over to Fowler Lake where there’s even more fun to be had, including family ice skating, music and snow softball.
